Painting is often one of the most important parts of any renovation project, as little else can improve a room as much as a fresh coat of paint. If you're planning on getting started with some DIY painting, then you're going to want the right tools and equipment. We've got you covered.

Kennards Hire stocks all of the necessary gear to ensure a painting job comes out right, whether that's ladders and line marking tools or spray painting equipment and trestle tables.

So what tools do you need to get started?

    Paint and wallpaper removal

Before you can start painting, chances are you'll need to get rid of the existing surface. Most homes and buildings will have either wallpaper or paint already in place, which requires heat guns and wallpaper removers.

Our range of heat guns can generate hot air that's fan forced, whether electric at 240V or by an LPG flame. We've also got infrared light heat guns. Our steam wallpaper removers use an electric element to produce steam and then dissolve the adhesives that hold wallpaper to the wall.

Once you've stripped the wall back to its original state, it's time to begin painting. What tools are best for painting?

    Beginning the painting process

Spray painting is one of the most efficient ways to cover a large surface evenly and without blemishes, and we've got a number of useful spray painting tools.

Airless paint sprayers, for example, use pressure to atomise paint particles without the need for compressed air. High Volume, Low Pressure guns also atomise paint by using a higher volume of air and lower pressure. Given their portability they make great tools for outside painting, for example when you're doing backyard work.

    The other tools to consider

Line marking tools are a great way to place clear, straight lines down on the ground. We have hand guided trolleys that use aerosol paint cans to ensure parking bays, roads and factories always have the right signage on the ground.

For accessibility, trestles and ladders ensure you can reach the right heights. We have aluminium trestles with heights up to 16 feet, and adjustable levels so you can work your way up a wall. Our extension ladders mean you can climb to heights up to 35 feet, and they're easily storable for transport. Fibreglass ladders are lightweight, and extremely durable, offering a great alternative.
