A new, heavy electric breaker with increased hammering power has been chosen as the standard at Kennards Hire, and will become available from all hire centres as older models are retired.

This breaker offers hammering impact energy of 68 joules with minimal vibration, and will break up to six tonne of concrete per hour.

Greg Carter, site supervisor for Garner’s Plumbing, hired one of the units from Kennards Hire Drummoyne for work at Gladesville Bridge Marina where they had to break up concrete which was up to 240mm thick while putting in a new sewer line for a slipway upgrade.

“I was after something with a bit more beef, and when I saw the new one on display, I thought, “Wow – this will do the job!” Greg said.

“The guys found it a lot more effective than other electric hammers they have used, and it helped us to do the job quicker.”

Kennards Hire also has air-breakers, hydraulic-powered breakers and smaller electric models.

Hydraulic powered hammers have impact equivalent to a 33kg pneumatic model, and the power pack is more manageable than an air compressor.
