Queenslanders usually enjoy a reprieve from the wet weather during the month of July, however this year has bucked the trend, with parts of the state receiving large amounts of rainfall.

This week has been unusually wet in some regions of Queensland, including the tropical east coast capital of Townsville which received 145 mm of rain in the 24 hours to 0900 Tuesday (July 10).

Towns in the Sunshine State's central west region have also received above average rainfall for July - typically one of the driest months across Queensland.

Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast have all recorded less rain, however according to weather forecasts more wet weather may be on its way.

Stormy weather can create havoc with residential property and if you're a homeowner in Queensland, you may want to take head of weather warnings and take some precautions to better prepare your property.

Falling branches can be a significant risk during a storm, but using a cherry picker, available from your local Kennards Hire, can assist you in removing any threatening tree limbs safely and efficiently.

If you do intending using access equipment with an elevated work platform, you may need a certificate of competency if working above a certain height - for more information, check with Kennards Hire staff when booking the equipment.
