Hiring a scissor lift is a great option for your next job, but it's important to maintain safety standards whenever you use it.

Equipment from Kennards Hire is always of the highest quality, however it's still a good idea to inspect machinery before you use it. Check the emergency stop buttons and make sure everything is working as it should.

Let your co-workers know what type of work you are doing, what machinery you are using and the area you will be taking up. If necessary, put up visible safety barriers to stop people from moving into your path.

Once you're in the lift, ensure you are wearing the relevant safety equipment, such as a helmet and goggles if you're using a power tool, and keep guard rails and safety chains in place.

Make sure you keep the lift away from electrical powerlines to avoid risk of electrocution. It's also wise to take a good look at the site you'll be working on before you start operation, and ensure that the floor is clear of any potholes, sudden slopes or uneven finishes.

Never load your lift beyond its maximum capacity as this can cause tipping.
