As the weather heats up we tend to do more socialising outdoors - whether it is enjoying long lunches at cafes by the beach or entertaining friends at home.

If you like to have friends and family over for barbecues in the backyard, this time of year may be a good time to give your backyard a spruce up in preparation for the impending warm months.

A timber deck is a wonderful place to entertain friends, however after a long, wet winter it is more than likely that it will need a bit of TLC to get it looking like new again.

If your deck has seen better days, you may want to strip it down completely to give it a complete makeover - grab some sandpaper and a sander from your local Kennards Hire and get sanding!

When using sandpaper it is important to use the right variety for the job - as a rule, for a smoother finish, stick with a higher grit grade and vice versa.

If your timber deck just needs a good clean, you may find using a high-pressure hose cleaner available from Kennards Hire useful, helping you remove stubborn stains and dirt to reveal a brand new deck underneath!

To give the timber a fresh look, finish it off with a fresh coat of varnish, oil or stain.
