HISTORY

Kennards Hire® is the largest privately owned general hire company in Australia, winner of the 2008 Hire Company of the Year, and is a family-owned business that has grown from one centre in Bathurst, NSW in 1948 to currently 139 hire centres nationally and in New Zealand. And that's just the general hire business! Kennards Hire® also operates specialist divisions, such as Kennards Lift and Shift, which specialises in lifting and materials handling equipment. We also have Kennards Concrete Care, who are concrete surface preparation, remediation and demolition specialists. In addition we have Kennards Pump & Power for generator and pump equipment and Kennards Traffic specialising in traffic control equipment.

OUR CULTURE AND VALUES

Whilst the company has grown substantially over the last 60 years, our commitment to a team culture and the value placed on the team members hasn't changed. We are a business that values input from our people, good relationships with our suppliers and we are an integral part of the communities in which we operate. We support local businesses, associations and major charities such as Variety the children's charity, Stepping Stone House, Children's Health Foundation and Constable Care.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

The Kennards Group has a strong commitment to the sustainability of the environment. We ensure that all our locations minimise their footprint through the use of electricity and water saving measures, such as reliance on tank water supply for the cleaning of equipment at some locations. We minimise airborne pollutants through the installation of dust filtration cabinets in all stores. We are also heavily involved in the Clean Up Australia campaigns in various states through the provision of equipment.

SAFETY

We have strict safety procedures for all work practices, ranging from how we lift and carry equipment, to ensuring that all of our subcontractors and customers load their vehicles according to our strict safety guidelines. We conduct regular safety audits in all of our locations as well as six-monthly refresher training for all team members on manual handling to ensure the safety and well-being of our entire team!

RECOGNISING AND REWARDING OUR PEOPLE

Our people are our building blocks for the future and are rewarded for their commitment and passion for the business. We offer careers at Kennards. We supplement those careers with extensive training programs ranging from on-the-job training, to traineeships, TAFE nationally recognised certificate courses as well as undergraduate and post-graduate university programs. Our people are entitled to up to 5 weeks holiday per year, the ability to cash-in untaken holidays and higher than normal superannuation benefits, subject to certain criteria. Positions available and transfers are always advertised internally and the "Kennards Kronicle", our internal company newspaper, gives us an opportunity to recognise the outstanding things that our people do to contribute to the success of our business.
