Laying new turf with lawn rollers

Laying new turf is an immensely satisfying part of the garden landscaping experience.

The sheer speed at which it makes a drastic cosmetic improvement means that you can see a beautiful new outdoor space roll out before your eyes.

However, it is not always smooth sailing - literally, as new turf can sometimes lay uneven and need to be smoothed out.

Lawn rollers have been built specifically for this purpose and can be used before and after grass has been put down.

By preparing an even surface prior, you give new turf a trouble-free surface to grow into.

A quick roll after installation will also iron out any kinks in the surface of the lawn.

Lawn rollers are also great for compacting areas prior to laying down bricks and pavers.

They key to the success of rollers is that they're actually lightweight - until they are filled with water.

The hollow cylinder can be filled with a garden hose to create the weight required for pressure on the ground.

After you're done, simply empty the contents on your new lawn to give it a quick drink.
