If you are planning to do some garden DIY, chances are you want to have your outdoor space looking as professional and inviting as possible.
Here are some top tips to help you reinvigorate your garden with a new energy.
1. Plan your shapes
A garden that is shaped with flowing lines to follow the curves of your home will stand out for all the right reasons. Before you start digging, planting or building, ensure you lay out the shape of your garden beds. You can use a fine layer of sand or flour so that you will remember exactly where the lines should be.
2. Choose plants with colour
When you are selecting the blooms to go into your garden bed, make sure your selections include plenty of bright colours to breathe new life into space.
You may want to think about including plants that blossom throughout the year so that there will always be a pop of colour in the space.
3. Think about your climate
When you are deciding on what plants to grow, make sure you choose according to the climate you live in. A plant requiring plenty of rain will not fare as well in Darwin as it would in Melbourne!
This also means you may need to take precautions to ensure your garden is protected from frost, if required. In some cases an old sheet can be used for this purpose - simply hold it above your plants using strong sticks during those cooler nights.
4. Site your plants
As well as ensuring you have selected the perfect plants for the site, it is also important to make sure they are placed with adequate room to grow strong roots.
This will ensure they look good for longer and really flourish in the area.
5. Compost
As soon as your plants have been placed in the garden, it is time to ensure they are well nurtured with plenty of nutrients to set them up for life.
As well as mulch, you could consider making a compost heap to provide plenty of goodies for that growing garden.
