All you need to know about laying pavers

Eating outdoors on balmy summer evenings is just one of the best things about this time of year, but after a long winter, your backyard area may need a bit of a revamp.

As part of your next garden landscaping project, why not create a paved area for outdoor entertaining and socialising?

Terracotta pavers are versatile, affordable and look good in almost any environment.

Instead of laying tiles in just one area, break it up into a grid consisting of groups of four with a 30 centimetres gap in between each.

Before you decide on where to lay the pavers, it is a good idea to experiment with your outdoor furniture to make sure the area is large enough to accommodate it.

You can place pebbles or stones in between each set of pavers, or alternatively plant fresh herbs such as peppermint or oregano - not only do they look and smell nice, but you can use the herbs in your cooking!

To prepare the paving area, you may need to use an excavator from your local Kennards Hire to clear a large enough flat space.

Place the pavers on either dry cement or some other foundation, making sure they are level and even - using a tape measure and level is vital here.
