Bigger welders from Kennards Hire spark interest

Kennards Hire has expanded its range of portable welders to include large units for heavy industry and mines.

The move met with a swift response, with 575 amp and 400 amp diesel engine generator welders quickly hired long term for contract maintenance work at Bluecope Steel’s Port Kembla Steelworks and the Port Kembla Coal Terminal.

Kennards has previously only had welders of this size available in the Northern Territory, but is increasingly being approached about supplying such equipment in other states.

As the fleet develops, all requests to invest in new plant for long-term hires will be considered.

The range of smaller portable welders, and accompanying expertise, also continues to grow.

Rydalmere (Sydney) and Port Adelaide hire centres are the first of several branches to take on a specialist role in this field, providing expert advice and speedy delivery far and wide.

New models include a 40 amp single phase plasma cutter, which cuts 8mm mild steel and 5mm aluminium and stainless steel.
