Most Australians are all too familiar with summer's relentless heat which can creep into the home, making sleeping difficult for the whole household.
If you don't have the cash to install an air-conditioning system this summer, you can still escape hot, sleepless nights by making a few changes around the home.
Here are a few tips to keep the house cool this summer.
Tightly closed
By keeping your home closed during the day you can actually make it cooler. Once the day has cooled off, you can open the doors and windows to let some natural air through the house.
Green shading
If you fancy taking on some garden landscaping, why not plant to some shady trees near your home to block out the light? This can help to keep unwanted heat out of the house, however, keep in mind the winter months if you are considering this.
DIY air conditioner
No need for an expensive air conditioner with this unique creation! Simply put a large bowl of ice in front of a fan so that it blows out cool air. Simple and effective!
Turn off the switch
Anything electrical that produces heat should be switched off, or used at a minimum at least.
This includes not using the stove or oven, microwave, lighting and even power adaptors.
