A tile cutter will get you started by turning large square slabs into the size and shape that you desire, but from there things get slightly trickier.

You need to take into account the various bathroom amenities that the new tiles will be placed around, such as the shower drain and sink taps.

The best way to cut into the side of tiles is with a grinder, while to create a space for the tapware to fit through, stick a piece of heavy duty tape to the area in question to avoid slipping and then use an appropriate-sized drill to make the holes.
