Need to complete a task that requires the lifting or movement of heavy materials or equipment?
Then Kennards Lift & Shift's stock of equipment can assist with the job, with a range of gantries, conveyors and various other tools and accessories available for hire.
Chess Engineering were able to install and modify anti-throw protection screens with 'great flexibility' with the help of rear-mounted Hiab cranes on two tonne tabletop trucks.
The company manufactures the large steel screens, which stop objects being thrown from road and railway bridges and embankments.
Chess Engineering project manager Peter Phillpott said that the crane trucks hired from Kennards Lift & Shift were ideal.
"We don’t need mobile cranes on a regular basis, so, it’s more cost effective and easier to hire when the need arises," Peter said in Kennards' Tool Talk Autumn 2013.
"These trucks are not too big, and are easy to manoeuvre, so you can get up close to the work site, which means not having to extend the reach of the crane too far."
Peter said the crane could lift up to 1,300kg - which was more than adequate for their needs - with the tray large enough to carry the screen components and their other equipment.
"Another big plus is that you only need a car licence and Hiab training to be able to drive them," he said.
