The days are starting to warm up, which means it's time to start preparing your pool for the summer.
Getting the pool in order for the first summer dip doesn't have to be a painful job; here are a few tips to help you on your way.
Cleaning
Whether your pool still has water in it or it was drained for winter, cleaning the pool is essential.
An empty pool is much easier to clean, allowing you to scrub algae and dirt off the sides and the bottom of the pool. This is also an excellent opportunity to inspect your pool to check for cracks and any repairs that may need to be done.
Using a submersible pump from your local Kennards Hire is great for draining the pool, allowing you to give it a good clean and maintenance check.
Filling
Once your pool is thoroughly clean you can start filling it with fresh water. The water level should sit at the middle of the skimmer opening. You will also need to add chlorine and other chemicals at this point.
Checking the PH levels will give you an idea of whether the water is suitable to swim in - the recommended range for PH levels is 7.2 to 7.8.
