The floor of a former railway workshop was transformed with the help of a self-propelled 10in (250mm) captive shot blaster, hired from Kennards Concrete Care.
Screen Technics, which is the largest supplier of projector screens and AV lifting devices into the Australian and New Zealand market, hired the machine while expanding its operations into an adjoining property at Moss Vale.
Production co-ordinator Brian Mathiasch and factory worker Jake Keenan, who shotblasted the 800 sq m floor in preparation for a new epoxy coating, described the machine as “exceptionally good”.
“The floor was full of little divots, but it was able to get into them and clean them out,” Brian said. “It removed the coatings, dirt and grime and profiled the concrete at the same time, which meant the new coating would stick better.”
Brian and Jake said they “couldn’t have asked for anything more” with the service, which included an on-site demonstration and regular checks to see how the job was proceeding.
A range of self-propelled and push-model shot blasters, from 8in (200mm) to 12in (300mm) can be hired from Kennards Concrete Care. A new hand-held model is available in Perth.
Kennards Concrete Care has hire centres in Sydney, Brisbane Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. There are now two hire centres in Sydney – at Artarmon and Moorebank.
