With winter knocking on our doorstep, now is the time to get down to work in order to ensure that your home is ready to handle the impending wet weather.

Did you know that there are a few easy DIY jobs that you can do to help keep your home warm during winter?

Not only will you be more comfortable when the temperature starts to drop, but you will also save money on your utility bills by lessening your dependence on electric heaters and gas fireplaces.

The first thing you will want to do is ensure that there aren't any leaks or poor seals on your doors or windows that might be letting in cool drafts.

A good way to check this is by placing a candle by the door or window and seeing whether or not the flame flickers. If it does, it might be time to replace the seal or fix the crack with caulking.

You can also do a bit of garden DIY work to help improve the warmth of your home. If there are any big trees that are blocking sunlight from hitting your windows, it might be worthwhile trimming them back.

It's a good idea to hire specialised equipment such as a cherry picker to help ensure that you complete this job safely and as quickly as possible.
