It might be working in a confined space, or even struggling to see in a site tent at night. If you have important information on a piece of paper and you can't read it properly, then how will you know that the work you or your team is doing is correct? The same goes for people operating power tools in the dark, needing to be accurate with what they're doing and how they're handling equipment.

Lighting towers

For illumination of a wide area, a lighting tower is your best option. It can be installed and elevated so that the light covers a wide area - perfect for many construction sites.

If you're wanting to cover a lot of ground with your illumination, a 6000-Watt light tower is the answer. It can be towed into position (and away from your local Kennards Hire branch), and has a powerful diesel generator. You can even use it as an auxiliary power supply if needed.

For a slightly more innovative and compact system, the LED solar light tower could be up your alley. This features solar panels that store energy during the day and provide power to the LEDs in the tower when the sun goes down. It's a cheap system, and might be exactly what the site manager is after!

Compact light systems

For light that is more manoeuvrable, and required in a smaller space, or even needed to provide more direct illumination, these compact systems are far more suitable.

In a tent, or at a desk, the 20-Watt LED is the perfect accessory. It will light up whatever it's pointed at, such as a tabletop or a computer. It makes reading information in an otherwise dark environment easy on the eyes, and provides a greater level of certainty when you're conveying important measurement information to other workers on-site.

Working in a dark environment is made much safer with a bright lighting system.

If you're trying to light up a larger space, such as a sewage pipe (as much as you probably don't want to see what you're stepping in), then a 1500-Watt flood light is the perfect piece of equipment. This can be easily set up and the light beam directed into a specific space. It's also portable, and can even be used for entertaining.

Rail lighting

For the greatest amount of coverage, a set of seven Linklite towers can be set up around a space, with each tower providing up to 70 metres of coverage. These are not as tall as other lighting towers so not as intrusive in residential areas, for example.

For a more direct light, the intrinsically safe rail RAL LED is the most flexible option on the market. It features a swivel-head that can be attached to a tripod for multi-directional use and provides 3,000 lumens of light for up to 10 hours at a time. It would be just like working in daylight! Except without the sunburn.
