The Kennards for Kids charity campaign, which is running all through March and April, raises money to donate to charities all around Australia and New Zealand. For every hire in-store or online, $2 is donated to one of eight carefully selected children's charities. In South Australia, Kennards Hire chose Variety - the Children's Charity once again.
Variety SA helps children who are living with disability, illness or disease to be kids.
Variety SA helps children who are living with disability, illness or disease to be kids - just like any other young Aussie. They run programs designed to get the kids out and about in the community, communicate with friends and family, achieve as much independence as possible and increase their self-esteem.
"The Kennards for Kids campaign is an outstanding initiative that demonstrates the community commitment of the Kennards Hire family," said spokesperson for Variety SA Jane Coldbeck.
"Variety SA is extremely grateful for the support it has received from this campaign over the past 10 years which has assisted many hundreds of children in need in our state. Funds raised from the 2017 Kennards for Kids campaign will support scholarships for children with an existing talent, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, helping them to achieve their full potential."
Kennards Hire is excited to be partnering with Variety SA once more. We make sure that all of the money we donate goes directly to helping the kids - in the case of Variety SA, providing scholarships to talented kids in the state who are living with a disadvantage.
How does Variety SA help kids in need?
When children are in hospital, they can feel disconnected from the outside world and start feeling sad about missing school and other activities. Variety SA makes sure they get as much exposure to regular activities and interactions as possible.
There are over 4 million young Australians in regional and rural areas, and in 2009, 7 per cent of those kids had a recorded disability. Of those 7 per cent, over 250,000 had some form of speech, intellectual or sensory disability. Not all of those kids live close to hospitals either.
For those who live in remote areas and have to travel to receive appropriate care, the realities of living with a disability can be a little more impacting. They're away from home and friends, who, in many cases, can't even visit them in hospital. Variety SA does all it can to make sure the kids are happy while they're receiving care, which is why Kennards Hire loves working with them.
"The Kennards for Kids campaign is a great way of giving back to the community."
"The Kennards for Kids campaign is a great way of giving back to the community - each state has the freedom to choose their benefactor of this wonderful initiative and we chose Variety SA," said General Manager of Kennards Hire South Australia Gareth Vines.
"We see first-hand the difference Variety SA makes to the lives of sick and disadvantaged kids in our state. It isn't a distant charity, it isn't in another state. It's right here in our community and we feel honoured to be able to provide some assistance to those in need."
The Kennards for Kids campaign is hire for a higher purpose, and our team in South Australia couldn't be happier to work with Variety SA.
