Kennards Hire Pump & Power supplied 1.5 megawatts of temporary power to support a new electrical installation in the mining town of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The “package” included one 500kVA and four 250kVA generators, the latter being synchronised to make two 500kVA generators.
Cable Layers Australia was carrying out a new underground installation in Newman, which was originally a closed mining town built by BHP Biliton, but is now a central hub for diverse mining operations.
“We had to drop the overhead power while we laid the new cable,” said Jason Knight, managing director of Cable Layers Australia.
“BHP Biliton stipulated we needed generators if outages were longer than four hours. We were very happy with the quality of the Kennards’ generators and service.”
Kennards Hire Pump & Power supplies generators to the most remote parts of Australia. The range has recently been expanded to include 1250kVA units.
There are Kennards Hire Pump & Power hire centres in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
