New way to clear blocked drains

The drain buster is a new way to clear blockages in clay or concrete pipes caused by tree roots or other objects.

It consists of a 60m long hose with a choice of heads (jet blaster and a spinning metal cutter), attached to a 4000psi water blaster.

Kennards Hire has added the unit to its equipment range at select branches following a successful trial.

A building maintenance contractor regularly hires it to remove blockages caused by disposable nappies, sanitary napkins, toys and other items.

The unit is also in demand for problems caused by tree roots.

New plumbing aids introduced in the last few years include cable avoidance detectors, pipe lasers and aluminium trench shoring, which is lightweight in comparison to older steel systems and easy to install.
