No mess or dust with dry-cut saw

Dust and mess are eliminated with an electric dry-cut saw, available from Kennards Hire.

Powered by a 2.6kW motor, it cuts to a depth of 120mm and can be used on materials ranging from bricks and reinforced concrete to metal beams and pipes.

An intelligent electronic control system regulates motor power to suit the material being cut and the pressure applied to the tool.

A vacuum unit, specially designed to work with the saw, creates a virtually dust-free environment.

One of the units, from Kennards Hire Alexandria, assisted WH Electric Co during an office block refurbishment.

Eight penetrations, each 430mm long by 320mm wide and 110mm deep, had to be cut for recessed in-floor boxes for power and reticulation.

As they adjoined cable holes drilled through the floor, the use of a wet-cut saw would have resulted in water dripping to the floor below.

“I would have had to have people with buckets down below collecting the water,” said foreman Tim Newbold. “By using the dry-cut saw, we eliminated the mess.”
