Spring is almost upon us and for keen gardeners this season is probably the busiest of them all.

With winter over for another year it is time to start cleaning up the garden, planting new flowers and preparing for the warmer months ahead.

Before heading to the nursery for your new spring plants, you will need to remove any dead ones that have died and remained in the ground over winter.

Identifying what areas of your garden need attention will help you better plan your garden landscaping job.

Whether you need to add some soil treatment to the ground or re-mulch around specific plants, spring is all about preparing your garden for growth, and lots of it!

When planting your new flowers, it is a good idea to organise similar types in the same area. For example succulents which don't need much water will need to be planted away from more thirsty plants.

Spring is a wonderful season for planting - its temperate, dry and sunny days make for perfect growing conditions.

Crab apple, anemone, cherry blossom, aquilegia, sunflower, daffodil, granny's bonnet, bluebell and azalea are all popular spring flowers which will inject colour into your garden.

Some plants are more suited to certain weather conditions, so it is a good idea to match your plantings with the specific environment.
