Want to give your home some Irish luck this St Patrick's day? Here are some of the ways you can safely decorate your home to get in the Irish spirit.

    Roof decorations

Shamrocks are a sure fire way to show others you're prepared to celebrate St Patrick's day. One way to show off your enthusiasm for Ireland's national day is to decorate with a garland made from Ireland's national flower.

What better way to celebrate your heritage than by writing it on your roof? Before the big day, you could climb up and create a countdown indicating how many days are left.

If you are going to decorate your roofs with garlands, you may need to organise a ladder to safely reach those heights without endangering yourself. If you live particularly high up, you could even think about using a cherry picker.

    Grow Shamrocks

If you are a dab hand in the garden, you might even be able to start your own collection of Shamrocks.

There are several kinds of trifoliate plants that are known collectively as Shamrocks, so you have a few choices if you decide to do some DIY gardening in light of this special day.

You could plant any of the Oxalidaceae family, wood sorrel (Oxalis actosella) or any plants in the pea family (fabaceae) such as suckling clover (T. dubium), white clover (trifolium repens) or black medic (Medicago lupulina).
