Tradies may want to become extra vigilant when they head out on jobs, after a 20-year-old plumber was lured to a western Sydney neighbourhood and assaulted.
According to the Telegraph, the tradesman was baited to the property by an unknown caller who asked the plumber to carry out some works on the home.
The tradesman arrived at the house and was ambushed and attacked by two men, who then proceeded to set the plumber's Toyota Hilux ute on fire before fleeing the scene.
Ambulance, police and fire crews were called to the Lethbridge Park home, where up to 100 residents were evacuated from their homes.
A neighbour was reported by the Daily Telegraph as saying she was "shocked" that a tradie would have been attacked doing their daily job.
It's important to be careful when heading out on any job, especially if you're going alone.
Make sure to let your employer, colleagues, or family and friends know where you're going and keep a mobile phone on you also.
It's also not unknown for tradies' tools and vehicles to be stolen, so get an alarm installed in your car.
You might also want to consider hiring expensive tools such as concrete grinders instead of buying the equipment outright.
