Kennards Hire has donated $100,000 to youth charity, Springboard. Based in Snells Beach, the organisation will use the donation to continue helping New Zealand’s most vulnerable youth. The gift was pledged at the Springboard Double Impact Fundraiser on Saturday, 3 November.

The annual fundraising event, co-hosted by Kennards Hire and Springboard, raised $146,000 in pledges from attendees and donors. As the event’s name suggests, Kennards Hire then doubled the impact of the pledges by matching the first $100,000 donated, bringing the total amount raised to $246,000.

The two community-driven organisations were drawn to one another due to their mutual values. Underpinned by their commitment to ‘One Family’, Kennards Hire and Springboard seek to support both their local and wider communities through real collaboration.

Kirsty Kovacs, Kennards Hire Director, said partnering with Springboard was a natural choice.

“We are extremely proud to be building a connection with Springboard. Kennard Hire’s philanthropic philosophy guides us to connect with organisations that share our values. Springboard’s belief in ‘whanaungatanga’, their sense of family and shared experiences, resonated with our aim to support disadvantaged youth in becoming independent contributing members of society.”

Held at the Ascension Wine Estate, which donated the venue for the fundraiser, the evening was a great success for Springboard and the young people it helps day-in and day-out. The night included personal anecdotes from youth who had gone from struggle to success with Springboard’s support, as well as a personal story from the Honourable Mark Mitchell, MP for Rodney.

Established in 2002, Springboard has gone from strength-to-strength. The charity, which was initially only able to support seven severely troubled youth, has now helped hundreds of teenagers and young people, earning itself the 2017 winner of the Philanthropy NZ People’s Choice: Community Change Maker of the Year award.

Gary Diprose, Founder and Managing Director of Springboard Community Works, was overwhelmed by Kennards Hire’s generous pledge. He believes the total amount raised from the Double Impact Fundraiser will significantly aid their quest in assisting more struggling youth and families achieve intrinsic, positive change.

“Kennards Hire have truly gone above and beyond to help our cause. The joyous night was an enormous success and we are ready to get out there and help more of those kids that need us the most.”
