Kennards Hire is not only a household name when it comes to hiring quality equipment, it is also well known for its charitable values, helping to improve the quality of life for future generations through education and environmental conservation across Australia and New Zealand.

One of the charities close to the heart of both the hire business and the Kennards family itself is Australian children’s education charity The Smith Family. Kennards Hire has been supporting The Smith Family for more than two decades, making a significant contribution to the charity’s work helping disadvantaged children with their education – be it helping younger school-aged children afford schoolbooks and other essentials, mentoring them through their education or supporting older students to access tertiary education.

These children come from challenging socio-economic environments. Without the support and funding of The Smith Family, many would not be able to access higher education such as University or TAFE, which makes the contribution they receive from Kennards Hire, and other Australian businesses, an essential lifeline that opens these otherwise closed doors.

Kennards Hire CEO Angus Kennard said, “We are not only committed to giving back, but to make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.

“We strongly believe that education is the best way to improve someone’s life. It is not a band-aid measure just for now, but something that has a lasting and often generational effect.”

Judy Tanna, The Smith Family’s National ‎Major Donor Relationship Manager, said, “Kennards Hire has been incredibly generous, making a total contribution of $500,000 over many years to support the education of disadvantaged children. This places them among the most important philanthropists of The Smith Family.

“We are grateful for their ongoing support and commitment, which has been integral to funding our crucial work with tertiary students. The leadership shown by Kennards Hire as a role model of philanthropy in Australia is to be commended.”

This year Kennards Hire has doubled its philanthropic commitment to The Smith Family – from $60,000 last year to $120,000 – which will allow the charity to support 40 students nationally to gain access to higher education.

“We are very happy to be able to give back and make a difference. And, along with our Kennards for Kids campaign, we can also involve all of our customers to help make the lives of others a little better,” Angus Kennard said.

In addition to this support, through the Kennards for Kids initiative the business raises funds for selected children’s charities to help provide support to sick and disadvantaged children and their families, this year donating over $317,000.  Kennards Hire branches also give generously to local community initiatives through the donation of equipment and time.
