Spring is the season for garden makeovers and house renovations, but it's also the time when Kennards Hire turn their hiring services into a charitable event, with the launch of the annual Kennards For Kids campaign.

Throughout September and October, Kennards will donate a dollar from each hire contract to selected children’s charities in each state.

The campaign, now in its fifteenth year, has raised millions of dollars for the support of children's health and wellbeing - funding vital equipment and services across the country.

The Queensland recipient of this year's Kennards For Kids campaign is the Children's Health Foundation.

The Children’s Health Foundation, formerly the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation  is dedicated to improving the lives of sick children - by pioneering research into child illness and injury.

Since its inception, the organisation has conducted ground-breaking research into a number of areas to address key medical issues facing some of the country's most vulnerable members.

From studies into burn treatment and recovery, to funding clinical projects focusing on cerebral palsy sufferers, the foundation is devoted to conducting studies to develop resources which aid children.

Debilitating sickness or injury to any family member is distressing and upsetting, but serious childhood illness is one of the most difficult challenges a family can be faced with.

The Children's Health Foundation recognises the hardships on the families of sick children, offering a patient support program designed to make a tough time of life easier for the child, parents and siblings.

Children’s Health Foundation CEO, Lyndall De Marco, is extremely grateful to Kennards Hire for showing such commitment to helping raise money for sick kids.

“We’re very thankful for funds raised by Kennards Hire. Since 2010, $70,000 has been raised which will make a big difference to the lives of many Queensland children who rely on specialist care each year,” Ms De Marco said.

Kennards donations help fund the entertainment used in the Royal Children’s Hospital Wonder Factory, providing a world of fun for young patients, their families and visitors.

The Wonder Factory is an interactive entertainment room with an emphasis on kids being in control of what is happening to them – a welcome change from their daily hospital lives.

They enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, face painting, interactive competitions, video games, board games, karaoke, role play and celebrity visits.

Encouraging sick kids to smile and laugh plays an important role in the recovery process.

Kennards donations also contribute to funding equipment in regional hospitals and important research programs into childhood illness.
