Queenslanders are all too familiar with the devastating effects that wild weather can have, with the state being ravaged by a several floods in recent years.

To minimise the damage incurred from severe weather events, the Queensland government is urging people to be prepared for wild storms this summer with the launch of its Weather the Storm campaign.

"Queenslanders are no strangers to severe weather and we know all too well that it can strike at any time, without much warning and with the potential to be very destructive," state minister for police and community safety Jack Dempsey explained.

Queenslanders are being urged to prepare an emergency plan and safety and essentials kit to deal with the worst during a natural disaster.

"The aim today is to ensure every Queenslander can weather the storm this summer by planning ahead," Mr Dempsey added.

In the aftermath of natural disasters and storms, homes can be left severely damaged from strong winds and heavy rain.

During the cleanup period, tradespeople are likely to find themselves in-demand, carrying out roof and property repairs in affected regions.

Access equipment is essential when carrying out any jobs at an elevated height. To ensure safety when conducting roof tasks, using a cherry picker or scissor lift from your local Kennards Hire store can be useful - helping you get the job done safely and efficiently.
