Jason Beeton is an Operational Product Specialist in our Lift & Shift division, supporting complex lifting, shifting and access requirements across NSW, ACT and NZ. His work is highly technical and hands-on, combining planning, site engagement and training to help customers choose and execute the right equipment and approach for difficult lifts and constrained environments.
Jason joined Kennards Hire as a trainee in Silverwater, Sydney, straight out of high school. He built his foundation in the Lift & Shift equipment range and quickly gained his rigging certificate.
Over the years, he progressed through a range of branch-based leadership and operational roles, including Serviceman/Driver, Hire Controller, Assistant Branch Manager and Branch Manager. For the past five years, he has focused on his role as an Operational Product Specialist, where he applies his technical expertise to complex customer challenges.
One of Jason’s earliest career highlights was helping establish the Alexandria Lift & Shift branch. What he expected to be a straightforward branch transfer quickly became a full site setup project, including land selection, project management of building construction, equipment procurement, staffing and commissioning, all delivered within a tight timeframe.
Jason combines deep technical expertise with specialised equipment knowledge and practical site experience. He regularly engages with designers, engineers, operators, project teams and subcontractors, often spending significant time on site before and during critical project activities.
He works across a broad range of lift and shift equipment, including gantries, cranes and hoists, winches and cable hauling systems, forklifts and telehandlers, hydraulics and jacking, plus a wide range of suction glass handling equipment.
As a qualified trainer, Jason is highly regarded for his ability to share knowledge with both Kennards Hire team members and customers.
A standout project involved supporting escalator installation works across eight Sydney Metro stations, each managed by different construction contractors and rigging companies. Jason worked closely with escalator company engineers to develop lifting equipment and process packages for each station. These packages became the standardised reference for how the works would be delivered across all sites.
In another rail project, Jason supported the installation of platform screen systems within an underground station. The customer constructed a prototype station in a warehouse to test installation methods, and Jason collaborated with engineers to design a lifting solution capable of accurately placing both screens and control components. This resulted in the use of multiple motorised lifting frames to safely and efficiently complete the work.
Jason says, “I enjoy the technical solution part of the job, working through the project with our customer and matching the best method and equipment to the site conditions.”
Jason describes the team culture as “like another family during the day,” and values the long-term relationships he has built both within Kennards Hire and across the Lift & Shift customer community.
“It’s great to still be working with the same people who’ve been part of customer companies in the industry for so many years,” he says.
Outside of work, Jason rides downhill mountain bike trails in the Blue Mountains and is now getting his son involved as well.
He is a passionate motorsport fan, following Formula One and MotoGP, and has attended several Formula One events with more on his bucket list. During a trip to the USA, he visited 42 of the 49 mainland states and attended major racing events at iconic tracks including Daytona.
Jason’s advice to those starting in the industry is simple: “Stick with it, ask for help and give yourself time to learn because the projects and challenges only get more interesting as your experience grows.”
His training often includes his favourite quote: “Take the time to get it right the first time.”
