    Introduction

Mark Snook helps customers solve complex water management problems. With three decades in water management, he works with customers and his team of specialists around Australia and New Zealand to build practical solutions that move, treat and discharge water safely and efficiently.

    Career Journey

Mark began in the hire industry in 1995 and has always been involved with pumps and water management equipment and its applications. Mark has experience across a number of trades, sales, operational and project management roles. He spent more than 25 years with other equipment providers, including pump equipment manufacturers, before joining Kennards Hire in 2021. Today he’s a go-to specialist for construction, council and emergency and natural disaster works, and a mentor to branch teams across the network.

Mark listens first, translates often complex technical inputs into a clear plan, and designs systems that will manage the potential and reality of volume spikes and content. He enjoys seeing customers have a “light-bulb moment,” seeing how each component contributes to the final outcome. Within the business he often collaborates with colleagues who specialise in power and distribution, access, sanitation and other equipment ranges to deliver integrated solutions, including wet hire where operators are needed.

    What Mark Does

    • Runs site meetings and inspections to define flow, head, chemistry and discharge constraints.
    • Designs end-to-end solutions that combine pumps, hoses, clarifying tanks and inline treatment for compliant reuse or discharge.
    • Coaches and supports branch teams in pumps and water treatment, continually developing Kennards Hire’s capability across Australia and New Zealand.
    • Works with local manufacturers to develop user-friendly, solution focused equipment built to Kennards Hire specifications, often now involving plug and play, integrated or custom solutions.

    Notable Projects and Outcomes

    • Lismore flood recovery: Designed a long-run dewatering system following the Wilsons River flood in 2022, including a 12-inch pump solution that removed the water from the CBD back over the town’s levee bank.
    • New Sydney Fish Market build: Installed six wells with multiple power units to dewater a cofferdam section of the harbour over six months in preparation for the new market’s construction, with the flow peaking around 750 litres per second.

What He Values About Kennards Hire

Mark is at home at Kennards Hire and he says, “the company’s values are in line with my own. The friendly, solutions-driven culture, where people back each other, share training and move quickly for customers, supports my own approach to providing outcomes for customers perfectly.” Mark enjoys growing capability in others, and learning from them, as much as solving the next water management challenge.

    The Person Behind the Pro

As a proud grandad and long-time Parramatta Eels supporter, Mark loves to take team motivation to the next level. During COVID he often appeared in Zoom meetings in costume to keep spirits high. And he has also adopted a fitting personal theme song, “Pump It Up,” by Endor, that has been played at more than a few team events in restaurants, conference rooms and harbour cruises. Mark’s personal motto reflects his project approach, “think before you speak.” The various tasks and challenges that his customers have, and using his expertise to solve their problem, is one of the main reasons he enjoys his days in the industry.
