Australia’s largest family-owned equipment hire company, Kennards Hire, is proudly providing specialist support services and safety infrastructure for Australia’s largest festival for the 6th consecutive year.
Following a two-week ‘bump-in’ period for festival setup, Kennards Hire will help Vivid Sydney dazzle and delight audiences for 23 days and nights, through a celebration of creativity, innovation, and technology.
As part of the agreement, the Kennards Major Projects (KMP) team will deliver end-to-end specialist support including equipment supply and servicing, traffic solutions for road closures, and crowd control barriers to help keep the public safe as they experience the magic of Vivid Sydney.
Creating an easy-to-access compound to house equipment whilst not in use, such as vehicles, trailers, fork-lifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts, the KMP team will also build and service eight site compounds throughout the festival.
In total, Kennards Hire will provide more than 2,500 hours of labour, over 30 labourers for hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM), an onsite pop-up store and infrastructure equipment such as sheds, access gear, barriers, VMS boards and fencing during the festival from Friday 26 May to Saturday 17 June 2023.
Simon Tipping, Senior Project Manager – KMP, said, “One of our values is taking hire, higher – in this case, in partnership with Destination NSW, we’re helping make one of the world’s most visited light festivals as safe and as seamless as possible. In less than three months, our team will deliver at scale the same amount of work that we’d typically deliver in a year-long project of a similar scale.”
“This year marks the 75th anniversary of Kennards Hire – a milestone that’s testament to the fair dinkum work and dedication of our people, along with the trust that our customers have placed in us over the years. We’re proud to be in our sixth consecutive year of helping bring Vivid Sydney to life.”
“As a partner, we provide equipment; but as a family-owned and customer-first business, we provide so much more. We want to make putting together the magic of Vivid as easy as possible. We want to help some of Australia’s most innovative and creative artists bring their visions to life in the safest and easiest way possible, so that they can spend more time creating a beautiful moment for Vivid spectators, and less time worrying about the tools and equipment they need to make it happen.”
Vivid Sydney Festival Director, Gill Minervini, said, “Vivid Sydney 2023 will once again illuminate and energise Sydney’s CBD. We have expanded and evolved the festival further this year and have curated an amazing line-up for 2023. We can’t wait to showcase Vivid Sydney to visitors and Sydneysiders alike.
The festival has long had a successful partnership with Kennards Hire, who offer a wide-ranging set of vital services. The Vivid Sydney team looks forward to working together with Kennards Hire again this year to help make 2023 our best festival yet.”
Vivid Sydney is Australia’s largest festival, attracting a record 2.58 million people to the festival in 2022. Vivid Sydney 2023 will run from Friday 26 May to Saturday 17 June.
