On Sunday 22 March, more than 100 children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, along with their families, were welcomed to a special match-day experience at Allianz Stadium over the weekend, thanks to the ongoing partnership between Kennards Hire, the Kennards Hire Foundation and Sydney FC.

Now in its third year, this much-loved initiative gave families from KidsXpress, Stepping Stone House and BackTrack the chance to experience the excitement of a live Sydney FC match - many for the very first time.

The event provided a rare opportunity to be part of a large-scale sporting experience and enjoy time together in a positive, exciting and inclusive environment.

Guests were treated to dedicated VIP seating in the Kennards Hire Kids Bay area, a gift bag with merch and food vouchers, a stadium tour and the opportunity to meet six Sydney FC players to get their gear signed, take photos and have a small reprieve from the heat of the day.

Although the score didn’t go our way, the match ended on a high note when Sydney FC opened the gates to the pitch for the for “Maccas on the field.” Hundreds of kids, including our group, poured onto the field to soak up the magic of being centre stage at Allianz, where their heroes play. The branded soccer balls from their merch packs quickly became the most sought-after prize as kids were playing, passing and practising their soccer skills

For these children, it wasn’t just a game. It was a day filled with excitement, connection and moments they’ll never forget.

Sydney FC player Rhyan Grant said:
“As players, we know how powerful football can be in bringing people together, so seeing kids in the Kennards Hire Kids Bay enjoying the game is incredibly rewarding. Our partnership with Kennards Hire and the Kennards Hire Foundation enables the club to give children, who might not normally get the chance, to come to a match — helping to create an unforgettable experience. Being part of something that delivers joy and positive moments for young people is something we’re really proud of.”

Kennards Hire Foundation Chair Lisa Cotton added:
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome families from our non-profit partners to experience the excitement of a Sydney FC match. Opportunities like this are about more than just football — they’re about bringing people together, creating memories, and helping young people feel part of something special. We’re so grateful to Sydney FC and its players for helping make this such a meaningful experience.”

For families supported by organisations like KidsXpress, the impact of days like this goes far beyond the final whistle.
“The families who joined us have been through incredibly challenging circumstances, and opportunities like this can make a profound difference,” said Tammy Scharenguivel from KidsXpress.
“Moments like these allow families to step away from the challenges they face day-to-day and simply enjoy being together — cheering, laughing and feeling part of a community. These are the kinds of experiences children carry with them.”

Through initiatives like Kids Bay, Kennards Hire, the Kennards Hire Foundation and Sydney FC continue to lift up communities and create meaningful experiences for those who need it most.
